Pickaway County Fair
Yesterday we went down to check out the 'pre-opening day' at the Pickaway County fair. All the 4-H-ers were bringing out their livestock-lots of horses, cows, goats, pigs, rabbits, turkeys, and "fancy" chickens. The kids loved seeing the animals so close! Kellen and Reilly got a big kick out of hearing the turkeys 'gobble'. We also watched a bit of harness racing, something we all found exciting. We were able to stand near the fence, at ground level, and when the horses ran by it seemed you could almost reach out and touch them. Man, those horses run FAST! After the excitement of the race, we sampled a bit of the fair food-stale pretzels for the kids and I, and a Philly steak and cheese for Eric (the quality of which was similar). Wednesday is 'kids-get-in-free-and-ride-for-free-day', so we'll venture down there once more (anything free!). It looks like there are quite a few rides for the kids. Pics to come!
